Currently finishing the Rigante Series bout time right lol

Finished Ravenheart the other day, at school right now so I'm on page 390 in Stormrider.
Passing my time between that and on this wonderful forum, while waiting for DP to get out of class lol.

Gonna go find a comfy chair to sit and read the the rest of Stormrider.

El Borak and other Deserts Stories by Robert E. Howard

1930 adventures, Francis El Borak Gordon, an American adventurer, mercenary in Central Asia.

He is the original hero of Indiana Jones type.

Howard is unbeatable in heroic stories fantasy or other adventure.

These stories are timeless and vivid, less pulpy words compared to his fantasy.
"What is your name?"
"Why?"
"So I can mark your grave..."

well im actually ready something that isnt gemmell or tolkein !! :)

My m8 from work who also read DG - although i have to say has been dissapointed with the Rigante/Shannow books!! Think he was annoyed in the way they ended :) Anyway..he lent me a book called The Hunger Games. I have to admit it took some getting used to . Different style of writing, first person, bit lower target age etc Pretty good so far seems to be a younger version of running man/battle royale...so far. ive been told it gets a bit more gruesome.
Anyway its not DG..so i seem to hold it in some sort of cristical comparison..dont know if anyone else does this as you guys seem to read a lot more varied stuff.
I have, in my breaks at work, been going through all the monarchs on Wiki - the history , their lives, successors etc. i was especially interested around the Edward V/Richard third era - princes in the tower etc as it very local. The two princes ( in addition to their guardians) were abducted from the town (stony straftord) up the road and their mother Elizabeth Woodville came from the village (grafton regis) up the road. Tonnes of other stuff too - think it comes with living right next to watling street :) think i might digging into some nin fiction books for a while - any non fiction books around the tudor/war of roses era would be greatly received - seems to have actually been my era of interest for some time. As soon as the history lessons changed at school into WW2 i have to say i lost interest - i understand the reasoning behind it but what can you do :)
I could cut you in half without breaking sweat. I could swallow you whole if someone buttered your head and pinned your ears back!!

You know you are right there Tudor hist fic. seems to have a large gap in the market for a budding writer.
It seems the advent of gunpowder kills off the fantasy guys and Historical fiction writers seem to go for more Epic times.

Hunger Games 2 - slow starter but gets back in to the thick of it eventually. Awesome series - very much like a cross between a post nuclear Battle Royale, and Logans Run. Once you get used to the syle of writing, if like me you pretty much only read DG all the time, its pretty good stuff :)
